St Thomas in Bedhampton approached the team at J Edwards in Bedhampton to see if we could source some new flower containers for their Garden of Remembrance. The garden is maintained by a lady who takes great care of the area and were interested as to whether we could acquire specific flower containers to be used in the church grounds which have a spike to hold them in the ground.

We were happy to help our local Church, and in fact, we were not only able to source them for the church, but also purchase them. Natalie Pannell, a member of the team at Bedhampton is seen in the above picture presenting the flower containers.

During the handing over of the 360 Easter Eggs to the Childrens Services recently, the team at J. Edwards of Bedhampton were shocked to discover that there could be even more children in the Havant area that were so badly under privileged, that they would not receive an egg this Easter.

The colleagues of the Leigh Park childrens services explained to us how they intended to try to support Havant Woman’s refuge through donating some of the easter eggs previously provided by J Edwards, to help even less privileged kids who currently have no homes, let alone eggs for Easter.

The team at J Edwards Bedhampton, immediately set about their challenge to hunt down more eggs. The shopping restarted and Belinda headed off to ask the local food stores to be even more generous. Gladly for us, they duely obliged and we were able to present Havant Woman’s Refuge with a further box of easter eggs.

A colleague from the refuge was delighted to receive the eggs. The relationship between the funeral home and these worthy causes was established at Christmas when we were able to donate biscuits, sweets and mince pies to the refuge and selection boxes and Christmas gifts to the children protected by Childrens Services.

You would probably find it difficult to believe that there are local children that receive no Christmas presents or Easter eggs, so very sad but unfortunately true. In April 2011, the team at J Edwards of Bedhampton including Belinda Rowland & Natalie Pannell came up with an idea to donate Easter Eggs to locally deprived children within their Havant area.

The team contacted Leigh Park Children’s services and enquired whether an Easter egg would be welcome for the children that are registered with them. The reply was that anything would be greatly appreciated as money was extremely tight.

Thanks to the help of our local food store, the team were able to collect an amazing 360 Easter Eggs. The eggs will be collected by the children’s social workers and allocated to the children before Easter weekend.

J Edwards & Son Funeral Directors in Waterlooville & Bedhampton, Havant have been inviting clients into their funeral homes to attend Christmas tree blessing services. The services have been held in memory of those who had lost someone throughout the past year.

The Bedhampton blessing held on Thursday 9th December 2010 was lead by Reverend David Proud of St. Thomas & St. Nicholas.

Clients who attended the service were invited to place personal messages and memory cards onto the tree.

Reverend Proud commented ‘This was in fact the first time I have been invited to bless a Christmas tree at a funeral directors, and it was a privilege to have been invited by the team at J Edwards & Son, who actively support and get involved within their local community.”

Natalie Pannell & Belinda Rowland of the Bedhampton funeral home concluded “We were delighted to see our families attend our blessing. It is lovely to be able to invite clients back to our funeral home at this special time of year.”
